In just a few weeks, we’re trading our usual summer routine for something wildly different—an Alaska cruise with Disney. It’s our first time visiting Alaska, and we’re going in with one clear goal: soak in as much of its nature and wildlife as possible.

We’ve done Disney cruises before—actually, more than once—and they’ve been a perfect fit for our family. Between the kids’ clubs, the dining (that somehow pleases picky eaters and grownups), and the low-stress planning, it’s always felt like a vacation that works with young kids instead of against them.

But Alaska? That’s brand new territory for us. And it feels a little more rugged. A little more mysterious. We’re excited—and slightly intimidated in the best way.

Our 7-Night Disney Alaska Cruise Itinerary

We’re sailing in June 2025—just in time for long daylight hours and (hopefully) decent weather. Here’s a peek at our itinerary:

Day 1: Depart from Vancouver, Canada

Day 2: At Sea (with a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover booked for my daughter—because magic)

Day 3: Glacier Viewing near the Stikine Icecap

Day 4: Icy Strait Point, Alaska – We’ve already booked a whale watching excursion here!

Day 5: Juneau, Alaska – Still exploring excursion options. Possibly the Mendenhall Glacier?

Day 6: Ketchikan, Alaska

Day 7: At Sea Day 8: Return to Vancouver

Our Main Priority: Alaska’s Nature & Wildlife

We’re planning around a simple priority: being out in nature as much as possible.

We booked a whale watching tour in Icy Strait Point, which is known as one of the best places in the world to spot humpback whales. I’ve read that you sometimes don’t even need binoculars—they breach right near the boats. Fingers crossed.

For the other ports (Juneau and Ketchikan), I’m still researching the best excursions. We’re hoping for:

Easy hikes or kayaking with views (especially if they include a waterfall or glacier)

Opportunities to see wildlife without feeling like we’re intruding

Something family-friendly but not tourist-trappy

If you’ve been and have recommendations, feel free to drop them in the comments—I’m all ears.

What I’m Hoping For

I’m hoping we have time to slow down and enjoy the scenery, which is not the vibe of our past Disney cruises which tend to be go go go. But I’m hoping we can take time to slow down and really take it all end. And of course to see some whales!

Follow Along

I’ll be sharing highlights from the trip (and what worked vs. what didn’t) once we’re back. If you’re planning your own Alaska family cruise or just dreaming about it, stay tuned.

And if you’re a fellow nature-seeker who’s done this before—drop your favorite hikes or animal sightings in the comments. I want to make the most of every wild minute.
